Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood sugar is too high. Blood sugar is the source of energy that comes from the food that you eat. The hormone insulin moves sugar from the blood into your cells. High blood sugar from diabetes can damage your nerves, eyes, kidneys, and other organs of the body.

Types of Diabetes:

When people talk about sugar, they refer to sucrose or table sugar, which is made from sugar beets or sugarcane. Sucrose is made up of one molecule of glucose and one molecule of fructose bonded together. When one eats sucrose, the glucose and fructose get separated by enzymes in the small intestine.

It increases your blood sugar levels and gives signals to your pancreas to release insulin. Insulin shuttles glucose out of the bloodstream. The cells take up the small amount of fructose used for energy. The majority of which carry to your liver where it converts to either glucose for energy.

The excess of sugar will convert into fatty acids and be stored as body fat which can use for energy. Fructose can convert to fat, high intakes increase triglyceride levels which increase your risk of heart disease and fatty liver.

A high intake of fructose is also associated with higher uric acid levels in the blood. A painful condition known as gout can develop if these uric acid crystals settle in your joints.

  • People who regularly drink sugar-sweetened beverages have a roughly 25% risk. Drinking just one sugar-sweetened beverage per day increases the risk by 13%. Diabetes also controls body weight, alcohol consumption, and exercise
  • Many researchers believe that sugar increases diabetes risk both directly and indirectly. It directly increases risk because of the impact fructose has on your liver. These effects may trigger abnormal insulin production in your pancreas and increase the risk of type 2 diabetes.
  • Eating large amounts of sugar can also indirectly raise diabetes risk as it increases body fat. It may disrupt the signaling of leptin. Leptin is a hormone that promotes feelings of fullness and leads to overeating and weight gain.
  • To reduce the negative effects of high sugar consumption it is highly recommended that you have to avoid sugar and take not more than 10% of your daily calories from added sugars that are not naturally found in foods

 Lower the Risk of Diabetes:

As there are many methods through which you can lower your diabetes. Some of them are as follows:

  • Follow a food diet:

Diets rich in nuts, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains have a direct link that reduces the risk of diabetes.

  • Drink coffee:

Drinking coffee reduces your risk of type 2 diabetes. A daily cup of coffee is associated with a 7% lower risk of diabetes.

  • Eat green leafy vegetables:

You can lower the risk of diabetes by eating green vegetables. It lowers the 14% risk of diabetes.
